Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch
February 5, 2015 – The Dirty Dozen All Made it to Berlin Camp – Spending the Night Higher Than Kilimanjaro
I am calling from high camp, we are 19,600ft above sea level, higher than any dirty dozen have been before. Half an hour or so before we got here, someone was watching the altimeter and screamed that we are higher than Kilimanjaro and we all gave a cheer. It is now 3:30 in the afternoon, we are settling down now and tomorrow is our summit day. We can hear the wind above us; the forecast for the wind tomorrow is 45 km and this is not terrible for Aconcagua but it is some wind. We are going to wake up at 2:30 in the morning and see how everyone feels. We are proud of being this high and if the mountain is in a good mood tomorrow, maybe we will go higher, we will see and keep you posted.
