Why climb with Berg Adventures

Sellers Family Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

November 2, 2013 – We Visit Everest Base Camp

We walked up the Khumbu Glacier to the site of Everest Base Camp, at 17,500 feet this morning. Another beautiful day; we were feeling good so in the afternoon we returned all the way to Lobouche and the comforts of the Eco Lodge there. Tomorrow we will move to Chukung to beging preparing for our ascent of Island Peak. Internet will be more limited from Island Peak, but Temba will keep you updated on our progress via satellite phone.

The entire walk from Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp is along the rubble and ice of the Khumbu Glacier.

The topography of the glacier is fascinating and always changing: lakes, crevasses, rock ridges that move with the ice beneath.
