Sellers Family Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
October 31, 2013 – Our Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche
Pheriche is at 14,000 feet. We spent two nights there in order to acclimatize before moving higher toward Everest Base Camp. Lobouche, at nearly 16,000 feet is a different world in terms of altitude and terrain. By the time you reach Lobuche you are adjacent to the Khumbu Glacier and the air is very thin!
As these photos show we are still experiencing mostly great weather in the most beautiful mountain terrain in the world.

Kantega, 22,250 feet high, is a stunning peak when viewed from Pheriche.

Just past Thukla we climbed onto the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, where there are memorials for climbers lost on Everest.

Closer to Lobuche, we saw, Pumori, 23, 494 feet. We also found new snow on the trail!
