Sellers Family Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
October 27, 2013 – The Sellers hike from Thame to Khundu to Khumjung
Thame to Khundu and Khumjung is a walk that takes people through the heart of Sherpa culture in one day. Fantastic mountain scenery, the hydro project that improves the quality of life here immensely, a modern hospital run by a Sherpa doctor and a Yeti skull! We saw it all today.
Perfect early morning light in the village of Thame.
We walked out of town on the opposite side of the Bhode Kosi and stopped for a visit at the small hydro project that serves the Sherpa of this valley.

In the village we stopped to visit Dr. Kami Sherpa, Chief Physician at the Hillary Hospital.
Yaks are a common sight everywhere you go in Khunde.
Big animals! But they are quite used to humans.
Our last stop of the day was at Khumjung Monastery.
At the Monastery we saw a Yeti skull!
We also saw hundreds of Tibetan prayer books.
