Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch

May 14, 2013 – Back at Camp III

We began our day about 7 am, hydrating and having breakfast, waiting for the summit attempt and then about 8:30, we started drop off the camp and 9 o’clock we put our crampons on and we were on the glacier. It took us 2 hours to get to the schrund and we made good time actually going up the Lhotse Face and 3 hours to lower camp. The wind picked up and it got really nasty and we still had several hundred meters to go to get to our camp, which is above the lower camp.

It took us a little longer than expected. Now we are sitting in our tents and the wind is blowing, making water, hydrating. We are going to go on oxygen tonight and just trying to make sure that we feel good for tomorrow because we are climbing to the South Col tomorrow!

Right now the team feels pretty good. We are all tired but that’s not unexpected. Hopefully we are going to get a good night sleep we will be hydrating and melting water for a few hours, probably until around 3. Tomorrow we are going to get up early and head to the South Col and then rest for our summit bid.
