Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch

May 2, 2013 – Third Rotation Complete, First Carry to South Col

May 2, a lot of important things have gone on today in the expedition. Ang Nuru and Tashi carried all the way to the South Col today. They took oxygen bottles and other equipment up that will support our permanent tent. It’s our first carry to the South Col, in fact, as best I can tell, the first or most for any team to the South Col.

So the guys have now spent ten nights in the Western Cwm and above. They spent two nights at Camp I, just over 19,000ft. They spent seven nights total at Camp II, 21,000ft and they spent one night at nearly 24,000ft above sea level at Camp III. This is where they need to be.

This rotation is behind them. The guys had great appetites now that they’re down. They’re enjoying the luxury of Base Camp. The single tents, all the books and music to pass the time, and I have to say they look very, very healthy. It snowed quite a lot today, were not expecting the weather to be very good tomorrow. But that doesn’t matter because all of the (incomprehensible) that’s the Sherpas and the climbing team. So, we’ll keep you posted as we recuperate and get ready for a summit event when weather and the logistics go out.
