Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch

April 26, 2013 – Prepping for Camp III

Chomolungma

Chomolungma

We’ll, we’re going to bed very early tonight at Everest Base Camp. Tomorrow morning, the 27th, all of our climbers, Daniel, Todd, and Steve, as well as all four of our climb Sherpas, Dawa Nuru, Tashi, and A Rita are leaving to go all the way to Camp II. No stopping at Camp I this time. Team’s carrying through all the way to Camp II and our three of our climbers, as well as Dawa and Tashi are going to be staying at Camp II tomorrow night. It’s time to move up to through second rotation.

We’re going to wake up at 2 am for breakfast, and the guys will be getting a very, early, early start. They’ll be moving into the icefall before 3:30. The weather’s good. As you can tell, we’ve been enjoying these days relaxation for the climbers here at Base Camp. But, it’s time to move up. We’re optimistic that on this rotation besides increased acclimatization and more familiarity with the mountain above Camp II, the guys may actually get a chance to move up and sleep at Camp III. Well over 7,000m above sea level.

Mountaineering Monopoly is over, we had one more movie matinee this afternoon. The Sherpas and the guys watched “Argo” but now it’s time to go up the mountain.

I’m really confident about the team, they are in great health; they’re psyched and ready to go back up, well rested. We’ll keep you posted day to day and we’ll try to get some photos out from their trip back up on the mountain as soon as we can. We should be able to get them out pretty quickly. We’ll keep you posted daily.
