Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch

April 16, 2013 – First Rotation Going Well

It's 6pm, on April 16th, I just got off talking from talking on radio with Steve at Camp I. We schedule radio calls from Everest and Base Camp twice each day, at 8am and 6pm.

Relaxing, hydrating, and eating, that’s basically, exactly the three things you ought to do when you’re trying to adjust to new altitude. Dawa (Danuru) moved up to Camp II today and put the tents up. Tomorrow is a big day because Tshering, Tashi, and Jatha are going to get up at normal times for us here, 3AM to have breakfast and then they’re going to start through the icefall into II. Steve and Todd and Daniel will rope up, just about the time they pass through Camp II, believe it or not at 7am, and they’ll begin climbing for Camp II. So the guys are moving up the Western Cwm. This is great! I can tell they are feeling pretty great. It’s a challenge to be at those altitudes, especially the first time you go up but things are going really well. I’m proud of our team and they’re progress, and we’ll keep reporting to you every day.
