November 15, 2012 – Hiking on a Bad Weather Day
Yesterday we drove from Banos to Chimborazo, It is always a great feeling to arrive in this beautiful mountain lodge. Although tired due to a long day visiting so many different places, our team was surprized and amazed to find such a unique place in a remote part of Ecuador, in the shadow of Chimborazo.
We had a great dinner and went to bed quite early. Chris told us that she woke up with great clear views of Chimborazo from her bedroom windows.
The plan for today was to do a reconnaissance hike to the high camp on Chimborazo. It turned out that the weather was really not on our side. It rained, it snowed and we even had lightening during the hike. We all got back to the hotel happy with our decision that climbing Chimbo this season was really not meant to be. But it was still good to visit the upper hut.
Now we are driving to the town of Riobamba where we will spend the night and plan to ride the Devil’s Nose Train on Friday. The adventure never ends!
