Why climb with Berg Adventures

Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

October 15, 2012 – Trekking Life

We are in the Sherpa Village of Khunde, at 12,500 feet, 3800 meters above sea level this morning. Acclimatization seems to not be a problem with anyone in this group. We have now slept four nights above 3400 meters. Life in our lodges and along the trail is great. Here are a few images from our first few days.

On our first day in Namche, Roxanne captured this impressive image of Ama Dablam, a mountain that will be constantly before us as we trek up the Khumbu Valley.

As always with BAI treks and expeditions, Nim Phuti is along to move our loads on her Zopikos and to lift our spirits with her beautiful smile.

Zopkipos are cross bred animals that have the strength of Yaks, but can travel to lower elevations as well as up high. Nim Phuti and Sona load them up every morning.

We have a great staff of guides, cooks, and porters. Ang Temba introduced some of the staff before we started out on the trail our first morning.
