October 13, 2012 – Amazing First Views of Everest and a Beautiful Day in Namche

We slept in our comfortable new Deluxe Rooms at Panorama Lodge this morning – until 7:00 AM. Our sherpa staff brought our wake up tea and coffee and we were off for the ten minute walk to the National Park view point. What a morning! Temba took these photos in the few minutes that we enjoyed the nice morning light before we returned to the lodge for breakfast.

This is our first rest day. The sky overhead is perfectly blue and Namche offers lots to do. “Shopping is acclimatization” is our motto here at 11,400 feet (3400 meters) above sea level.

Temba’s photo captured the beautiful view we had of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam.

It has finally happened, after years of wondering we were pleased to see that Namche now has its first ATM machine. Remarkable for a trading town served only by yaks and porters.

These kinds of days in Namche make for great memories. Blue sky, great peaks all around.
