Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

May 5, 2012 – Dave and Joanne at Everest Base Camp!

Min and Temba sent these photos direct from a snowy Everest Base Camp on Saturday morning, May 5th.

We want to congratulate the team and we hope that everyone watching will appreciate the effort, patience and persistence that it takes to arrive at Everest Base Camp. 17,500 feet on a glacier in the Himalayas is no joke! Great job, Dave, Joanne, Min and Jaythai!

Temba called us a few minutes ago to say that at 4:00 PM Joanne and Dave had returned to the Himalayan Lodge in Gorak Shep. We know they will be tired after the long round trip walk up the glacier to Base Camp today. Ang Tesring's yak dung fire and especially the beds tonight will feel good. Tomorrow the team will continue down to Pheriche. Remarkably enough, when they return to Pheriche 14,000 feet above sea level will actually feel like low altitude to them!
