Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 17, 2011 – Team Moves Up to Plaza Canada for the Night

I am happy to report that Maggie is feeling much better today. She went to see the doctors and they cleared her to move up higher. Todd’s headache is also gone. We climbed slowly to Plaza Canada, our Camp I on Aconcagua, to spend the night.

We left Plaza de Mulas (our base camp) at 12:00 pm and made a very slow ascent to Plaza Canada, arriving at 4:00 pm.

I have to mention that we have a real treat: listening to Maggie’s ipod through speakers at the camps. You may ask “how do we keep her ipod charged in the cool air?” It is great team work - Todd has a solar charger. This means we will be able to listen to music all of the way up Aconcagua!

The weather has been amazing so far; no wind and clear skies again today. We are all settled into our camp I and everyone is doing well.
