Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 15, 2011 – Acclimatization Day at Base Camp

This is Osvaldo calling you from our base camp at Plaza de Mulas. Today was our planed acclimatization and rest day. We are all a bit tired from our long day hiking in from Confluencia yesterday.

This morning we woke to beautiful clear skies. Now sitting at a new elevation and taking it easy, we did stretch our legs a little when we walked to the Plaza Hotel, across the glacial moraine, one mile from our camp. Maggie purchased some post cards from the hotel and sent them to her friends in the USA. They will arrive postmarked “Plaza de Mulas”.

We will report to you tomorrow after our climb moving higher on Aconcagua.
