Vinson Expedition Dispatch
December 6, 2010 – Extravagant Expedition Cooking
The storm is still roaring outside our high camp with winds at 40 knots and a temperature of -15°F/-26°C. Inside however, we are still pretty cozy. Yesterday our big activity was making pancakes, which are not the easiest or most convenient of expedition foods, but we had plenty of time on our hands. Today we spent a few hours making omelets in the Pash shelter. Yes, a couple of hours; cooking in a tent in Antarctic conditions is a bit more complicated than cooking in the comfort of a kitchen. Now we are all secure in our tents resting and keeping warm. For now, we will continue to wait patiently with high spirits for this storm to pass.
