Thankfully the Bolivian team

had set up camp for us!

It’s about 3:30 in the afternoon and I’m calling you from 16,500ft/5,000m at Plaza Canada again, same place we dispatched from yesterday only now we’ve moved in. We walked up today in about 3.5 hours carrying bigger packs than yesterday with our final loads. We walked up in relatively good weather, a little more cloudy than we’ve seen. It began to snow just before we arrived and we’re currently in a bit of a snowstorm.

Luckily Nelson, Simon, Apolo and the whole crew had set our tents up before we arrived, so now we’re all settled in and quite cozy. We’re paired up here in our North Face tents. Alex and Alain are together, Hugo and David, Don and Kelly, and our girls Line and Isabelle are sharing a tent. There are also the six of us, Berg Adventures staff, up here: myself and Apolo, Simon, Nelson, Juancho and Osvaldo and we’re living in two more North Face tents and a big cook tent. We also have a dining tent where the whole team will meet in a few minutes for tea.

It’s taco night! I’m not sure just how it started, but if you’ve followed Berg Adventures dispatches over the last few years, you’ll recognize that taco night is a favourite tradition of ours. Simon always prepares delicious meat and vegetarian tacos when we arrive for our first night on the mountain here at Plaza Canada.

We’re all hungry from today’s carry and we’ve acclimatized well, so things are looking good as we get ready to enjoy taco night and a cozy sleep here at Plaza Canada.
