March 19, 2009 – Team Gets First View of Chomolhari

Hi, this isTemba calling you from Jangothang at 11,400 ft.
This morning our staff brought us hot tea into our tents. After tea I looked outside of my tent and there were a couple of inches of snow on the ground. There was also a beautiful view of Chomolhari and Chomolhari Base Camp at 13,426 ft (4090 m). It was our first view!
We started our walk around 9:00 a.m. We walked through the beautiful forest and followed the River. Along the way there was a Bhutan Army Post. They gave us some Chai and biscuits which was very nice.
After our little snack we continued walking and came across some small villages and saw many yaks along the trail.
We reached camp at around 4:00 p.m. and then had a wonderful dinner. Today is Edouard’s birthday so our cook made him a beautiful cake and we celebrated!
