Why climb with Berg Adventures

Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

October 1, 2008 – Jerome Exploring the Jungle of Sing Gumba

Today Min brought me wake-up tea at 6:00 am, then we left Dhunche for Sing Gumba (3,250 meter).

We followed an easy slope along a water purification plant then into the jungle, yes that’s right, I said jungle, with crickets and leeches, it was unreal! Min is making sure I do not step on the grass to avoid where leeches like to hang out. Yesterday one leech got lucky and feasted on my leg before I even noticed!

After a while the trail went up sharply and did not let go until we reached Sing Gumba, at 3,250 meter. On the way we enjoyed a well deserved noodle soup lunch at the lodge.

Tomorrow things will begin to get serious when I climb above 4,000 m; it’s going to be a lot of fun!
