Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch
December 23, 2018 – It's Christmastime: Off to South America!
Actually Kara has been in South America for weeks. John, along with some duffel bags that will soon be transferred to the back of mules, left Chicago Saturday, December 22.
Today father and daughter had a happy reunion at the airport in Mendoza. Osvaldo and the team had met up with Kara in advance and everyone was at the airport when John arrived.
In case no one has ever mentioned to you, just as is the case with many other mountains in the world, Permits are required to attempt Aconcagua. The first order of business after Osvaldo took the team to Mendoza's Park Hyatt Hotel, was to get busy with the paperwork.

John grabbed a quick shower after he arrived and looked fresh for the briefing a few minutes later.

Rumour has it that Kara, who has been living in simpler guest houses and hotels during her months travelling, did not mind the Park Hyatt.
