January 8, 2017 – Rest and Organization Day at Plaza de Mulas
Osvi reports this morning that the weather is still great and that the team is adapting well after sleeping for the first night above 14,000 feet.
Today will be a well-deserved rest day after yesterday’s long hike. The call came mid morning. The team had a great breakfast and then spent some time adjusting crampons and trying out the plastic double boots that will be worn higher on the mountain.
After lunch they will stretch their legs by hiking a couple of kilometers across the glacial moraine to the site of the old abandoned hotel that sits opposite the Plaza de Mulas camp.
