February 10, 2015 – “We Reached Uhuru Peak – We Summited”
Hello, this is Herman. I am on Kilimanjaro with Berg Adventures' Hong Kong team.
We left high camp and arrived around 12 in the afternoon at Stella Point and had lunch there. After lunch we started hiking up and we made it to the summit! We reached the summit at 2:15pm.
Everyone is feeling really good and they are all very happy to have reached it to the summit.
We are now here sitting at Crater Camp where we will spend the night. Everyone is enjoying life at Crater Camp. They have walked over to see the glaciers this afternoon.
The team is great and we will talk to you tomorrow!

Leaving our high camp to the summit during the day. What a treat!

We first arrived at Stella Point at 5,756m (18,885ft.)

Then we kept going for another hour and we reach Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5,895m ( 19,341ft.)

Commemoration on the summit – Red Bull to give us extra power

All we needed to do now was to climb down to our Crater Camp

Overnight at Crater Camp

Hike to see up close the glaciers of Kilimanjaro – a unique experience since very few who climb Kilimanjaro has a chance to sleep inside the crater .
