Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

December 31, 2012 – The Brother & Sister Duo Arrive Safely in Arusha

It is about 3 o’clock local time here in Arusha and both Janet and Bruce have arrived safely! They flew in from Calgary, Canada -4°F (-18°C) to Arusha, Tanzania 79°F (28°C) and are about to delight in more than just fair weather. Although Bruce may be more accustomed to the warmer weather in Nigeria than Janet is in Canada! Bruce did experience a bit of a hiccup with his luggage, but he didn’t go without his belongings for too long, as they arrived a few flights after his.

Today, they will partake in a mountain briefing, from acclimatization to reviewing the schedule, and will also get an opportunity to visit a local market. They also got the opportunity to visit a local orphanage and are very happy they were able to make that happen.

Tomorrow, they will be making their way towards the mountain. It will be an early departure of about 8am, followed by a 3-hour drive to the starting point on Lemosho Trail. We will keep you posted on their progress!
