Strohm Family Lemosho Traverse and Safari Dispatch

July 4, 2011 – Summit Success for the Strohm Family!

Scott and Brennen checking in from Mweka Camp. Yesterday we left Kossovo Camp at 7:45am and began our summit attempt. We made it through a series of switchbacks and by 11:45 we were at Stella Point. By 12:45 or 1:00pm we made it to the summit of Africa!

Along the way, we had Julius, Samuel, Eric, Elias and Arnold. We could not have done it without them. Eric and Samuel carried our backpacks. We sang songs along the way to help us get to the top. Julius encouraged us along and we needed it. After we summited, Brennen came down back to Kossovo Camp. I went with Julius over to the crater, walked across the crater and then we scree skied down. It was just a blast of a day, a really cool experience. So many thanks to Berg for giving us that experience.

Today we got to sleep in a little bit and then had a 3 hour hike down to Mweka Camp at 10,000ft. We got some great air! We look forward to seeing everybody when we get home.
