LaQuishia Stone and the Hanesbrands Team EBC Trek Dispatch

May 9, 2010 – LaQuishia Says Farewell to the Everest Region and the Sherpa People

At 11:00am this morning, LaQuishia, LaShonda, Teresa, Mike, Adam and Jeff landed in Kathmandu. The short flight from the mountain airstrip at Lukla brought them to another world. The showers at the Yak and Yeti, and the thick air of the Kathmandu Valley will no doubt be welcomed, but we know that our team will have mixed feelings about leaving the colorful and warm world of the Sherpa people in the Khumbu valley.

Lifetime memories were made on this trip, and we met many friends who we will always remember. The mountains, the challenges of high altitude and the smiles of the people who live in the shadow of Mount Everest have changed us all.

Now it is time to go home; LaQuishia has been talking about the hamburgers at “Ruby’s” at the Los Angeles Airport for several days now. The comforts of home are calling us, but the spirit of the high mountains will stay in our hearts forever.

As we descended from Base Camp, our Sherpa friends blessed us with kata scarves.
