Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

Febuary 22, 2010 — Steve and Lauren Make it to Mweka

Our intrepid and experienced guide, Julius.

guide, Julius.

It’s Steve here, with our last dispatch from the mountain. We just finished our eight hour trip down from the summit. We departed around 10:20 this morning and arrived at Mweka Camp at 6:20pm. It was a long day, but we made it. The weather was pretty decent today. A little bit of rain but not much.

One thing we did forget to mention in the last dispatch, and Lauren reminded me to tell you, is that when we reached the summit, we were the first two people with Berg Adventures to ever climb the Pofu Route. We’re pretty proud to have been part of that.

We’d also like to thank Julius, who was climbing for his 342nd time (no, that’s not a typo!) on the mountain and also David who was on his 35th time. They did an outstanding job. We’ve had a great trip, and now we’re one day closer to home.

We’ll talk to you later!

One of the amazing views from our ‘first ascent’ of the Pofu Route.
