Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

Febuary 21, 2010 — Summit Success!

This is Steve calling from our camp below the summit on the 21st of February.

It feels like we’ve been to hell and back! We have just endured two days, six hours each day of very steep hiking. The weather has not cooperated at all. It’s been wet, rainy and snowy. So basically everything we have is wet.

We finally made it into the crater yesterday around two o’clock. The view was absolutely gorgeous and worth all the hard work it took to get here.

We woke up this morning for our summit bid with the sun blazing and drying out our things, thank goodness. In an hour and 15 minutes we were on the summit.

Now we’re just making our way down to our final camp, our last night in a tent, and looking forward to showers and clean clothes tomorrow.

We love everybody and we’re fine, everybody’s doing well. In fact, we’re terrific!
