August 28, 2009 – Summit!

Summit of Kilimanjaro

Hi, this is Chris. It is August 28th, summit day. We left the “School Hut” at midnight and we reached the summit at 6:00 AM; we made pretty good time. It was beautiful on top. We saw an amazing sunrise from the top of Africa. The temperatures were cold, but bearable.

Now we are at Horombo (elevation 3,700 meters) and tonight will be our last night on the mountain. It was a long day, but a very successful one.
