Climb Ojos del Salado with Berg Adventures – Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Copiapo. You will be met by our staff and transferred to your hotel. Briefing and gear check.

Day 2 – Drive to our camp “Vallecito”, at 9,800ft/2,987m where our adventure begins. Start acclimatization.

Day 3 – We will depart early in the morning for the Lake Santa Rosa in Nevado Tres Cruces National Park. Our four-wheel drive vehicles will take us to our camp close to the salt flats called the Salar de Maricunga.

Day 4 – You will have a day for exploration around this extraordinary saltwater lake which is home to large numbers of flamingos. Acclimatization days are the key to summit success!

Day 5 – We will continue on to Laguna Verde where we will camp. This beautiful turquoise lake has natural hot springs along its shores.

Day 6 / 7– Acclimatization days with the option of climbing a peak or going for a hike in the area.

Day 8 – We will ascend the volcano Mula Muerta at 18,700ft/5200m, and return to our camp for a pleasant soak in the hot springs.

Day 9 – Today we will move to Ojos del Salado, Atacama Camp. This will be our base camp for our climb.

Day 10 – We climb to High Camp - "Cesar Tejon" - at 19,000ft/5800m, to drop some of our gear and return to Atacama Camp for the night.

Day 11 – We move to High Camp to spend the night.

Day 12 – Summit day on Ojos del Salado. After waking in the early morning to climb to the summit which stands at an impressive 22,615ft / 6,893m. Return to sleep at High Camp.

Day 15 – Drive to Bahia Inglesa, a beach resort on the Pacific coast, for a relaxing evening.
