Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
June 30, 2015 – Barbara and William Call in from Mweka Camp
Hi it’s Barbara and William. It’s day 8 of our Kilimanjaro hike and we have successfully summited Kilimanjaro yesterday up to Uhuru Peak.
We left at about 6:30 / 7:00 in the morning and climbed and climbed through a great deal of wind and cold but we made it! We went down into the crater and had a beautiful lunch in one of the most spectacular areas I’ve ever seen. We came back up and descending down to the base camp.
Today day 8 came down from the base camp, passed through the millennium where we had a fantastic lunch as usual. We are now in Mweka camp where we are overnighting before we finish unfortunately our wonderful Kilimanjaro experience.
I will pass it over to William:
Umm I don’t really know what to say now because she covered everything.
But yeah it was an awesome summit. It was windy but it was lots of fun when we got to the top. It was very cool.
It was a bit cloudy but we still could see a lot. There a lots of glaciers.
I walked over to the ash pit which was really neat. It was a really deep hole and that was pretty cool.
Now we are at our last camp which is 3,100m.
Bye, thanks!
