Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
June 24, 2015 – William Calls in on the Way to Shira Camp
Hi it’s William climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro with Berg Adventures. Everything is going really well! We are on the second day of our climb.
Yesterday we left the hotel and drove to the main gate where we registered and drove back to where we were entering in the jungle area. Then we started the first climb which was really good and really fun. We climbed up to our first camp, Big Tree Camp at 9,900 feet.
From there today, our second day, we woke up and had breakfast and continued our climb. We moved out of the jungle region and moved into more of a rocky, less vegetation, shrubby layer (laughs).
We are now on our second day. We have had lunch. It is 2 o’clock and we are at Shira Plateau and tonight we are camping at Shira Camp and we are going to be at 11,500ft.
