Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

August 8, 2014 – Updates from the Lava Tower

We have made it to the Lava Tower Camp! We are at 15,200ft above sea level.

Herman’s and Amanda’s reports yesterday have been keeping you filled in on how this trip is going and you can tell it’s going really well.

I am proud of the team. They are strong and acclimatizing well without any problem at all and we are having a good time.

We are here in Lava Tower which is between the upside down U shaped Finnick Glacier and the Lava Tower itself. We are actually camped right below the Lava Tower.

We are in some wind here. It’s not that cold but it’s beginning to be a bit cloudy. The tents are flapping and we feel like we are in the high mountains now.

It’s only a short walk over to the Arrow Glacier and I think some of the team might head up there is a while just to see what it looks like there.

This is a big night for our acclimatization as we move across our traverse of Kili and the team is doing great!

A Message from Herman later today:

Hello this is Herman again and we are on the climb here with Berg Adventures. Everyone is doing great we are at the Lava Tower Camp here at 15,200 ft. We had a good day. We had lunch and it was great!

We went up a little higher to see the glacier and now everyone is coming back for some dinner.

Thank you!
