Elbrus Expedition Dispatch
July 11, 2014 – We are Back in Moscow, With Warm Memories of the Caucasus

On the drive to the airport in Menralnye Vody this morning, Elbrus was majestic and beautiful in the distance as we drove away.

We had a bonus day to spend with our friends in the Caucasus yesterday. We began with Vladimir Bakhmutov sharing photos from Kiev this morning.

It was a great day to go walking around the valley.

We climbed to a waterfall.

We got local carbonated spring water along with local families at the community springs.

We visited the mountaineering museum.

Vladimir Putin is skiing with Solomon and Leki.

The Museum contains photographs of the old “Pruit 11” shelter, which we used to call “The World’s Largest Air Stream Trailer”.

We are still trying to decide our favorite local beer. Here are a couple of the candidates.

We loved that we got to spend some time with Tamerlane, Karina’s 13-month old son.
