Sibley Family and Friends Mount Ararat Expedition Dispatch

August 4, 2013 – Uchisar - Kayseri – Istanbul – Van - Dogubeyazit

This was a travel day: a bus transfer, two plane flights and another bus transfer, which took us along the Iranian border to our first view of Mount Ararat.

By 7:30 we had arrived at our favorite restaurant in Dogubeyazit, where we received a warm welcome from the owner.

Duygu has collected our passports and they have been taken to the registration office. Tonight the team enjoyed the last hours of wireless in our hotel lobby. We checked Google Earth of views of the amazing terrain we were in yesterday and for a view of our route on Mount Ararat.

Tomorrow morning we are off to the mountain!

Toward the end of our day as we approached Dogubeyazit we saw the first view of our goal; Mount Ararat.
