Why climb with Berg Adventures

Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch

June 24, 2013 – Dancing At the Summit

Hi it’s Patty! I’m very, very happy to report that Matt and I made it to the top of Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, Uhuru peak this afternoon. We were in good spirits and in good health, not because we’re so strong but we had great leaders; Emmanuel, Thomas and Cornel. I just want to say I was overwhelmed with emotions and a huge sense of gratitude for my good health, gratitude for Berg Adventures and gratitude for the leaders and for my friends and family. Now I’m going to pass on to Matt.

Just reached the summit with Patty, which is thrilling, we were overcome with emotion. After, we skied down the volcanic ash and plumaged to the crater where the icebergs were just amazing, very blue and they were melting. Emmanuel took his Facebook pictures there and it was very funny. We had lunch in the crater and Patty and I decided we should head back to the Barafu camp to get an early start because I was feeling a little loopy from the sulfur smell on the crater. We are having a wonderful time. Kudos to Berg Adventures for providing such a wonderful staff to help us get to where we want to be.

It’s Patty again, one more thing I just want you to know, when we got to Stella Point the team was there and we literally sang and danced at the top of the mountain, and it was wonderful.
