Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch

October 24, 2012 – The Team is Reunited in Pangboche and We Are Now Back in Namche

We have made it back to Namche Bazar, the land of wireless internet, electric blankets, electric washers and dryers, and showers in our rooms. At 11,400 feet above sea level we are also now truly in the land of thick air compared to where we have been.

Yesterday, Tuesday the 23rd, the entire team was reunited when we joined Jim and Sharon, who had arrived at Ang Temba and Yangzing's "Highland Sherpa Resort" in Pangboche two days ahead of us. On the same day that the rest of us descended to Pangboche, Jim and Mingma had gone to visit Ama Dablam Base Camp, a vigorous five hour round-trip walk.

It was great to all be together again in Temba and Yangzing's cozy dining room.

The walk to Namche today was long, but incredibly scenic. Our muscles are sore, but we are indeed savoring our final days on the trail in the Khumbu, the home of the Sherpas.

At 6:00 AM this morning, before we left Pangboche, Lauren helped Nim Phuti feed the Zopikos. We have named all our Zopikos; this is Becky getting her breakfast.

Jim and Sharon had a wonderful two days staying with Yangzing at Highland Sherpa Resort. Sharon's eye is fine now and she is enjoying lodge life at 13,100 feet above sea level.
