Doc Martin 75th Birthday Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
June 12, 2012 – Packing for the Mountain
It is hard to believe that 24 hours from now we will be high on Kilimanjaro’s steepest and most beautiful forest trail, Umbwe.
After breakfast we met in a large conference room at our hotel, spread out our gear and got down to the business of packing. Berg Adventures guides were on hand to answer questions, demonstrate how to pack and on occasion to smile in wonder at all the equipment this team has brought along for the attempt on Africa’s highest summit.
The team is excited. Our first chore, packing our gear for Kilimanjaro.
Rita is excited, we are finally here and it almost time to go.
