Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
May 9, 2012 – Back in the Thick Air and Colors of Namche
Temba called today reporting that Dave and Joanne are resting in Namche for the day and doing well. Only one more stop tomorrow as they trek even lower to Phakding at 8,560ft (2,601m), then onto Lukla for their flight out back to Kathmandu.
Namche feels like a home base for a lot of trekkers. Anyone who has experienced the environment, the primitive sounds of clanking metal stakes, yak bells, children playing, solar fed hot showers, and plenty of shopping, would agree there is a sense of excitement and comfort when you arrive in Namche on the last leg of your trip.
Stay tuned as we follow the final lag of Dave and Joanne’s adventure through the Khumbu valley.
