Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
April 30, 2012 – Dave and Joanne are at the Tangboche Monastery
Min called to report today that Dave and Joanne have arrived at the world famous Tangboche Monastery, at 12,500 feet above sea level beneath Mount Everest.
This spot has been famous since the first Everest Expeditions in Nepal passed through in the 1950’s. Today the view of Everest from this sacred site is just as inspiring as it was to the early pioneers.
Dave and Joanne spent three nights in the colorful, active trading town of Namche. Today the trail to Tangboche was long and challenging but they are resting well in their rooms at a simple lodge just a few steps from the Monastery. From this point upward toward Base Camp the distances will get shorter each day, but the demands of altitude will increase. We will post reports each day as our team climbs higher.
