Why climb with Berg Adventures

Aconcagua Expedition Dispatch

January 18, 2011 – One Team Goes Up, Another Comes Down

This is Osvaldo calling from Nido de Condores, the Condor’s Nest, at 18,300ft/5,580 m. It is quite windy, but the skies are clear and things are going well.

Quite a lot has gone on since our last dispatch. Stuart had a pretty bad headache yesterday afternoon, so we decided that he and Maggie should descend back to Base Camp. Sergio left with them after we ate and they made it all the way down in good time. Sergio reported by radio that both Stuart and Maggie were glad to be back down to Base. Today they will visit the doctor again and get checked out.

After breakfast Todd and Simon and I began the climb up to Nido de Condores, where we will camp tomorrow night. Today’s objective was to bring some of our gear to our next camp so that our bags will not be so heavy tomorrow. Despite our heavy packs, Todd did very well. We left camp at 11:30 and arrived just over two hours later at 1:40.
