January 14, 2011 – Group Arrives at Plaza de Mulas
This is Osvaldo calling from our base camp “Plaza de Mulas” at 13,800ft/4,200m. This team is the strongest I have seen. We made it to base camp in record time, 8.5 hours. Our day offered amazing views, blue bird (clear) skies, and no wind. As we got higher towards camp, the wind picked up a little and the clouds are just starting to form. Overall it has been an amazing day for weather.
We are relaxing and waiting for dinner. The whole group is great and strong, Maggie is shining with her sweet personality and patience.
It is very quiet here at Plaza de Mulas camp. It has fewer climbers than usual this time of year.
We are off to relax for the rest of the evening and we will report to you tomorrow.
