March 16, 2009 – Mike Arrives at Machame Camp

Hello this is Mike and it’s Monday March 16, 2009. I just wanted to let everyone know that my flights over to Africa were great; I got here safely and everything is going well.

First day we spent hiking in the Mt. Meru in the foothills. We hiked out of Arusha and into a waterfall area that was absolutely beautiful. I then got a chance to check out the local markets and bought some great souvenirs.

This morning we got to Machame gate and we hike up to about 10,000 ft. We are now at Machame Camp. It was a steep climb but everything went well and I had a great time.

My guide Elias is fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide and crew.

I want to send my love out to my wife Rachelle. I love you and miss you. I wish you were here with me.
