Bhutan Trip Dispatch

March 25, 2009 – Reports From Thimpu And Paro

We spoke with Alex by telephone from the Kichu Resort in Paro this morning. His flight back to Bangkok and on home to Florida will leave tomorrow. It is time for Alex to return to his teaching job back in Florida and some kids who will be eager to hear about his adventures. As we spoke to Alex, his love for the adventures the group shared spilled over the phone line: “What an amazing journey we have had! With no exaggeration, I can say this trip has changed my life”.

Meanwhile Ang Temba sent amazing photographs of our team’s morning journey through the wild mountain terrain of Bhutan. He sent the photos from the capitol of Bhutan, Thimpu. He told us that the group is really proud to have completed the crossing of two high passes and finishing the entire Chomolhari Trek, which is always a demanding journey. Temba said that the BAI team was the first group this year to complete the trip. Two groups behind them had to turn back.

After the rigors of trekking, the remaining days in Bhutan should be enjoyable and relaxing. This team, Kit, Rob, Eudoard, Jim and Janet will be returning to Nepal where they will join the BAI Sherpa staff for the fabled Trek to Everest Base Camp.
