Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
March 1, 2008 – Team Safely Arrives in Arusha
Today is March 1. 2009. This is Tracy and I’m calling you from BAI headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. The team is all here and getting ready for their orientation meeting for the big climb and then we are going to take off to Mt. Meru for a day hike.
Everyone arrived safe and sound in the dark which is a great surprise when you get to wake up in the morning and look for our goal which is Kilimanjaro off in the distance. It was an awesome experience to wake up to roosters, goats and birds and to take a look at the locals with their bright coloured fabrics.
Trevor arrived earlier in the week to work on the Linde School, which he did a lot of fundraising for. He was able to put in all the windows for the school and he is now doing the finishing touches on the window seals today while we go up and do our hike. We will pick him up tomorrow and he’ll join us for the climb then.
I’ll will call you later and let you know how our day hike went. I know we will enjoy the sunny skies and beautiful weather of Arusha!
