Kilimanjaro Expedition Dispatch
July 26, 2008 – Huffines Depart Africa
Hello! This is our final dispatch from Africa. This is the Huffines family leaving Nairobi. About 6 days ago we had no telephone contact because we were in the Serengeti. We saw the big 5, and it was incredible! We moved down from there and flew to Zanzibar Island and had a wonderful rest on the beach.
In Zanzibar we spent two days on the beach. We went scuba diving in one of the world’s top twenty spots. We saw sea turtles, lion fish, stone fish, king fish, octopus, white fine sharks and much more! We also experienced the culture and learned a lot about the history in Zanzibar. In Zanzibar Stone town, it is 95% Muslim and 5% Christian; the town was established 1,000 years ago as a slave trading port.
It has been one enriching, deep, profound international experience with all of the wonderful people of Tanzania and Kenya.
