July 3, 2008 – Olduvai Gorge – Over 3 Million Years of History
Hello, this is John. It is Thursday morning at the bottom of the Olduvai Gorge, the birth place of mankind. Ellyn and I just spent the morning discussing the recent discoveries of the Olduvai Gorge with some palaeontologists and we participated in an archaeological dig. All very fascinating, and now we are on our way to the Serengeti National Park. Here is Ellyn to fill you out on yesterday.
Yesterday we were in the Ngorongoro conservation area where we drove and watched for wildlife. The highlight of our day was a black rhino, which are very difficult to find. We also came across a group of hyenas who were rapidly eating a wildebeest. It was pretty fascinating to see the vertebrae of the wildebeest as it was being quickly demolished.
Now we are having a pretty relaxed travel in our 4-wheel drive enjoying the endless wilderness out here.
