Everest Base Camp Trek Dispatch
April 21, 2018 – From Namche Saturday Morning Market to Thame
The Saturday morning market in Namche Bazaar has been a famous event for trekkers to view as well as an essential part of living in the remote valleys around the Khumbu, the homeland of the Sherpas.
It starts bright and early. Temba, Jack and Scott were there. Afterward they did the beautiful trail out to the traditional Sherpa village of Thame. Thame is the home of one of Berg Adventures longtime friends, Ang Pasang Sherpa.
Ang Pasang lost his fingers to frostbite years ago on an expedition to Cho Oyu, an 8000m peak on the Tibetan Border. This has not stopped him from painting beautiful Thangka paintings. Thangkas are a unique art to Himalayan Buddhists. It is always great to visit with old friends.
