October 17, 2015 – Blue Morning Skies in Pheriche - Great Acclimatization Day
We had the perfect Pheriche day today. We will sleep here again tonight. We are at 14'000 feet. This is an important elevation for us to allow our bodies to adapt before we move higher.
After breakfast we hiked high on a ridge above Pheriche, we eventually climbed to over 15,000 feet. Along the way we had stunning views of some of the greatest Himalaya peaks. We will identify them on the captions.
We also visited the village of Dingboche at 14,300 feet where we enjoyed coffee, cookies and an apple pie with old friends of Wally.
And we were back in our lodge in Pheriche by 1pm for lunch prepared by our cook Phuri!
It is cloudy this afternoon so it is just right for playing cards, telling stories and relaxing in the lodge. Tomorrow we will be moving much higher - onto the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier! Stay tuned - the adventure continues!
