Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch
May 11, 2013 – The Begining of the End Game
The camp I through IV are in the position on the mountain; the fixed lines have been completed to the summit; the team is acclimatized, rested and healed as well as we can be. We all have been back at Everest base camp for some time and we are ready to go. In the past two weeks there have been times that the summit winds exceeded 120 kilometers an hour; we have been watching the weather and waiting. Currently the weather forecast points to an opening on the 16th, 17th and the 18th with the summit winds below 40 miles an hour and once again we will move up the mountain tomorrow at 3am on the 12th in order to be in position for our chance. This is what we’ve worked towards for the last 51 days. This will be the start of the final push towards the summit. Our only hope is that we have the strength and the courage to finish the job.
