Berg Adventures 2013 Everest Expedition Dispatch
May 2, 2013 – Happy to Be Back at Base Camp
After five nights up high, and descending 7,000ft in the past two days, we arrived here around noon and we are very happy to be back in the relative thick air of 17,500ft Base Camp.
We finished our second rotation and we are feeling pretty strong despite the fact that having no oxygen at Camp III like I have previously said in another dispatch, we went about 38 hours without any sleep. Nonetheless, we are now acclimatized and ready to do our summit push. We have to rest and heal for 5-7 days and watch the weather. Then we’ll go back up hopefully for our final time, and if we’re strong enough and lucky enough, we may be able to brace the top of Everest.
At any rate, we’re just very, very happy to be back here in the relative thick air of 17,500ft. We’ll be putting up pictures and sharing our adventure for the next few days, resting and healing, and preparing ourselves mentally and physically for our final push.
