"Joints In Motion" CARE Team Gokyo Trek Dispatch
November 11, 2009 – Team Arrives at Gokyo
Team is very strong and doing well!
This morning we began our journey from Machhermo at 8:30am. We started by hiking along a ridge that has spectacular views of the valley. We passed through the village of Pangka, and on to the first lake called Longponga. The second half of our hike was easier as we walked along a steady path to the second lake known as Taujun. Then finally we made it to the lake of Dudh Pokhari (Gokyo lake).
Today, unfortunately, there were high clouds in the sky. However, we could see the mountains surrounding Gokyo. We enjoyed our lunch here and everybody had a good day.
Tomorrow we are going to Gokyo peak, which is 18,000ft above sea level. Everybody is doing really well and hopefully we will all have a good sleep tonight and recharge for tomorrow. The weather looks good now because I can see the stars.
